Luke 6

³⁹ Then Jesus gave the following illustration: "What good is it for one blind person to lead another? The first one will fall into a ditch and pull the other down also.
⁴⁰ A student is not greater than the teacher. But the student who works hard will become like the teacher.
⁴¹ "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?
⁴² How can you think of saying, `Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye.
⁴³ "A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit.
⁴⁴ A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thornbushes or grapes on bramble bushes.
⁴⁵ A good person produces good deeds from a good heart, and an evil person produces evil deeds from an evil heart. Whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

⁴⁶ "So why do you call me 'Lord,' when you won't obey me?

⁴⁷ I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then obeys me.
⁴⁸ It is like a person who builds a house on a strong foundation laid upon the underlying rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against the house, it stands firm because it is well built.
⁴⁹ But anyone who listens and doesn't obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will crumble into a heap of ruins." (NLT)

Luke 13

¹ There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
² And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

³ "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

⁴ "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
⁵ "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
⁶ He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.
⁷ "Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?'
⁸ "But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
⁹ 'And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.' "
¹⁰ Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
¹¹ And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.
¹² But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity."
¹³ And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. (NKJV)
